Friday's Feature: Tulips

Happy Friday! Are you ready for another Friday Feature?  As I was preparing for the release of my Floral Collection, I was pondering on what painting I wanted to feature.  In my bedroom hangs a large tulip painting that I painted several years age, and thought to myself..."that painting would be perfect for this weeks feature."   Tulips Oil on Canvas (painted 2009) I don't have a deep thoughtful story on the reason or process of this painting.  I love tulips, and I just wanted to paint them.  This is, however, my first oil painting that wasn't an assignment for art...

Friday's Feature: Warming Up In Winter

I knew when we started having unseasonably warm temperatures in February that it was temporary.  Sure enough, the past two weeks have been pretty chilly.  All I want to do during colder weather is snuggle up in a blanket, and sit in front of a fire place with coffee in hand...whose with me? I am a control freak!  I like to have things planned, how it will be executed, what to expect, and what the final out come will be.  Spontaneous will never be a word that describes me, and last minute changes of plans can ruin my day (at least that is how it seems until I digest the "change" and realize it really isn't so bad). This problem with control has been a hurdle that I need to get over often when it comes to my paintings.  I have a process in which I plan my paintings, first by envisioning how...

30 in 30 Challenge

I have seen artists participate in A Painting A Day program, and I thought that one day I would do a challenge like that. I discovered a podcast hosted by Artist Leslie Saeta as well as a guest co host.  This podcast, Artists Helping Artists (AHA) has been a wealth of information for me as I am growing my business.  Leslie hosted a 30 in 30 challenge this past fall, and she peaked my interest when she talked about her paintings and the paintings of other participating artists.  So when I heard that she was doing another 30 in 30...
