Friday's Feature: The Girls

I grew up in a home on a one acre lot in the city.  My parents had half of the property sectioned off for a small orchard consisting of pecan trees, apple trees, plum trees, pear trees, fig trees, grape vines and a variety of berries as well as a rather large vegetable garden.  I loved having fresh snacks at my disposal, and would pick from the trees/plants often.  It wasn't unusual to find me sitting under a shade tree enjoying my freshly picked produce, but I didn't like the work of preparing the harvest for the winter.  I'm glad for the experience now. I'm Taking My Farm To The Beach!!!

I'm happy to announce that my "Down On The Farm" collection will be on exhibit Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Tractor Supply Co.  2000 Fisher Arch  Virginia Beach, VA. Come on out for their annual Chick Days and bring the kids.  I mean, who doesn't love baby chicks!  I may or may not be doing a live painting...you will have to come to see for yourself.  In the meantime, I'm working on a new painting to add to this collection.

I knew when we started having unseasonably warm temperatures in February that it was temporary.  Sure enough, the past two weeks have been pretty chilly.  All I want to do during colder weather is snuggle up in a blanket, and sit in front of a fire place with coffee in hand...whose with me? Speaking of winter weather and coffee...it is time for another Friday's Feature so grab your coffee (I'll wait), and I will tell you about another painting. Warming Up In Winter  11x14 oil on canvas The Hampton Roads / Tidewater area of Virginia is not known for snow...in...

Friday's Feature: Maggie

Introducing FRIDAY'S FEATURE! I love a good story especially one that helps me relate to someone or something.  When shopping at estate sales or antiquing many interesting items can be found, but when the history of that piece is unveiled, it becomes something special.  The who's, what's, when's, where's, and how's creates a connection to that piece that may not exist if those stories are never told.  Everything has a story, and it just needs someone to tell it.  That is what I plan to do with my Friday's Feature...tell the stories behind my paintings.  Each post will feature one painting, and I...
