American Robin on Citrus Branch
The American Robin, known as the "Early Bird" with its red breast can be easily spotted in early spring tugging worms from lawns. They appear to be an early sign of Spring, but truth be told, they stick around through winter roosting high in the trees.
Robins are one of the first varieties of birds I learned about as a child. Their attractive red and black coloring caught my eyes, and there was no denying the remnants of their powder blue eggs laying at the base of a tree. For my younger self, it was like finding a treasure.
